What to expect in the coming weeks at Duty Free Dylan!

I had the opportunity to spend a short weekend in Utah. My mom had some business to conduct and she brought me along with her. Here is what to expect in the next few blogs!

Burgers

I love Burgers! While I am not a foodie whenever traveling I do my best to discover the best burger joints. I have never been out West before, so Utah was the farthest I have been.  The blog for my first In-N-Out burger will be a post about my thoughts.

SilverCar- Car Rental Agency owned by Audi?

You are probably thinking this was really expensive. SilverCar is an affordable car rental service that does not charge extra for fees and offers a streamline fleet. Honestly this was the best car rental I have done. I do my best to avoid renting a vehicle. However, my mom had to do some commuting. I got really creative and found this amazing deal!  I’ll post more pictures and talk about my experience driving an Audi in a future blog.

Visiting the Salt Lake Temple

Well, this year I have found myself in a rather odd situation. Most of my traveling has resulted in visiting some kind of church. In Paris, I visited the Notre Dame and then during a group trip to Italy I went to the Vatican. This post will be about the what my experience seeing the Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints (Mormons), and a brief history of the Mormon religion. When I get caught up on my trip reports I plan to do a comparison between the Vatican and the Temple.  My biggest recommendation for people visiting the Temple is to go during the day and night. Please do remember, only Mormons are allowed inside the Temple.

The Dead Sea Experience in the US

Many people aspire to travel for Israel, usually for religious purposes. However while in Utah I felt like I was experiencing the Dead Sea. It smelt like it for sure! I am going to do a short post about how to visit and cycle the Salt Lakes. This was the only nature activity I experienced in Utah.

Summertime at the Waldorf Astoria (Park City)

While in Utah, I split my time between Park City and Salt Lake City.  The 2002 Winter Olympics was hosted in Park City, about a 45 minute drive from SLC. This Olympics was really important to Americans because it occurred months after 9/11. This was a time in the US where air travel declined and people needed to come together. After the Olympics, Park City became a top destination in Utah.

This lead to the building of several resorts. Initially, I researched the St. Regis, but their pool was not working. So I choose the Waldorf Astoria next. I am planning a comprehensive write-up about the property and benefits of Hilton Diamond status.

Honorable Mention: Sundance Film Festival

Park City is known for the Sundance Film Festival which is hosted every January (or February).  I had the opportunity to attend the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Ever since then I have become a fan of film festivals. During my trip to France I had the opportunity to visit Cannes. One day I will go back and visit Cannes during the festival. If I would ever return to Utah it would be for Sundance.  Maybe, some of you would like to travel for the winter sports in Utah. Winter is my least favorite time of the year.

Final Thoughts

Utah has to be one of the coolest weekend trips I have taken in a while! This state has so much experience, but it would take hours to drive up and down the state.

SLC (Salt Lake City Airport) is very nice and is in the process of being expanded to accommodate Delta’s massive growth. The Air France/KLM joint venture has given SLC European flights. I do not know the details and aircraft types for these flights. Delta’s investment in SLC and AF/KLM is very cool for those who live in Utah. However, I was flying American Airlines from my hometown airport. There were no Priority Pass lounges or restaurants to visit in the airport.
